Sixteen Years Without a Time Loss Accident
On August 18, 2009, Mid-Valley Rehabilitation's Wood Products Division reached their goal of 16 years without a lost time accident. The last time-loss accident, which involved a chop saw, occured on August 17, 1993. With a wide variety of hazardous equipment in use, such as pneumatic nail/staple guns, forklifts, and a wide range of saws, this record is impressive. Employees all look out for hazards, such as oil spills from the forklists, tripping hazards, and so on - and will actually take care of the problem without having to be asked. Incentive programs and rewards, unique daily safety meetings where workers recite company safety rules, routine equipment maintenance, and keeping work areas clean are all important elements of the safety program at Mid-Valley's Wood Products Division. The Division celebrated the 16-year milestone with a BBQ and a day at the beach.
